FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most important questions from project developers, investors, industrial customers and grid operators.

Faber is the only vertically integrated group of companies in Germany that combines project development, infrastructure production, battery storage construction and energy trading under one roof. Instead of several subcontractors, you have a single point of contact - from securing the site to marketing the electricity. This reduces interfaces, shortens project lead times by 50-75 % compared to the market average and minimises liability risks.
Faber E-Tec manufactures over 300 transformer stations every year and realises transformer stations up to 110 kV. Whether a single station for a commercial site or a turnkey grid connection for a multi-MW solar park - the capacities scale with your project. Contact us at an early stage; we support projects from the feasibility study onwards.
The process is divided into four phases: 1. analysis - grid inspection, TAB requirements, authorisation framework. 2. planning - design of the transformer or substation, documentation. 3. production - production in our own workshop, no delivery bottlenecks. 4. commissioning - installation, switching authorisation, handover. Thanks to in-house production, there are no typical waiting times for external suppliers.
Yes, Faber implements both co-location storage systems (green electricity storage, directly connected to a renewable energy system, eligible for EEG subsidies) and stand-alone systems (grey electricity storage, grid connection possible). Retrofitting existing solar parks is possible, provided the grid connection offers the necessary capacity - our engineers will check this as part of a free preliminary analysis.
F-TRADE handles direct marketing in accordance with the EEG, structures Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and markets storage capacities on the balancing energy and intraday market (arbitrage). As an internal group service provider, F-TRADE has a full interest in optimising the performance of your plant - there is no conflict of interest with an external marketer.
All transformer stations and NSHV are manufactured and documented in accordance with TAB (Technical Connection Conditions). Faber works regularly with regional grid operators such as Westnetz and is familiar with their specific requirements. On request, we can handle all communication with the grid operator.
Green energy storage systems co-located with renewable energy systems are eligible for EEG subsidies under certain conditions. There are also KfW programmes and federal state subsidies for commercial storage solutions. Faber advises you on the selection of the appropriate subsidy structure - please contact us before the planning phase begins, as subsidy conditions influence the system design.
Thanks to in-house production and stockpiled materials (copper, steel, concrete), standard transformer stations can be procured much faster than via the market. Exact delivery times depend on configuration and capacity utilisation. For time-critical projects, we recommend reserving capacity at an early stage - contact us directly for a binding statement.
Faber is active throughout Germany. The head office and production capacities are located in North Rhine-Westphalia. Projects are realised nationwide - from the North Sea coast to Bavaria. We are also available for international enquiries; please contact us.
